races

Your character's race gives you plenty of clues as to what sort of person he or she is, how he or she feels about characters of other races, and what might motivate him or her. Remember that the following descriptions refer to the majority of people of those races. Even amongst people of one race you will find some individuals who act completely against the grain of what the rest of his or her society expects. Don't allow these descriptions to turn you off to a race, for it is up to you to determine how your character will be played.




Humans
Humans have only one special ability: They can be of any character class and rise to any level in any class. Humans are also more social and tolerant than most other races, accepting the company of elves, dwarves, and the like with noticeably less compliant.

Elves
Elves tend to be somewhat shorter and slimmer than normal humans. Their features are finely chiseled and delicate, and they speak in melodic tones. Although they appear fragile and weak, as a race they are quick and strong. Elves concern themselves more so with natural beauty, dancing, and frolicking playing and singing. Friendship is hard earned, but worth it.

Dwarves
Dwarves are short, stocky fellows, easily identified by their size and shape. They average 4 to 4 1/2 feet in height, have rough, ruddy cheeks, dark eyes and dark hair. They are given to hard work, and care little for most humour. Their chief love however, is precious metal; particularly gold.

Giants are a huge race of people who like to use their strength well. They are gigantic, bulky people whose strength is unmatched. However they are not the smartest stars in the sky. Therefore, they are limited to classes which do not need a lot of intelligence.

Centaur
The centaur is a mythological creature. Its head, arms, and chest are those of a human and the rest of its body, including four legs, hindquarters, and a tail is like that of a horse. Centaurs are often very hostile and are plague to the people around them. The intellectual parts they inherited from humankind left them ignorant and yet cunning. Instead of mastering or taming their instincts, centaurs are ruled by them.

Drow
Drow are called the 'Dark Elves' by many, because they are very evil at heart. As their counterpart, they have a frail and weak appearance though, looks are deceiving. Their skin is black, and they have piercing eyes, which look into your soul. Class selection is limited because of their alignment.*Beware* Drows cannot stand the sunlight. They lose HP being exposed to the sun.

Gnomes
Gnomes are Kin to Dwarves, although noticeably smaller then their distant cousins. Their noses, however, are significantly larger. Most Gnomes have dark tan or brown skin and white hair. Gnomes have lively and sly senses of humour, especially for practical jokes. Some say Gnomes are the best race, but it is probably just a rumor.

Half Dragons
Half dragons are just that, half dragon, half something else... Thought to be half dragon, half man, these people are both wise and powerful. They live to be older than even the elves and amass great knowledge about the realm and it's influences.

Faerie
Faeries are thought to be bewitched or enchanted. They are more or less human in form although sometimes taller or shorter, but never bearing wings. They are often mortal and therefore, can be killed. However, this ancient race are magical geniuses. This makes them, at best, unpredictable and at worst, dangerous. Few people seek the company of faeries and most go out of the way to avoid it.

Halflings
Halflings are short, generally plump people, very much like small humans. Their faces are round and broad often quite florid. Their hair is typically curly and the tops of their feet are covered with coarse hair. They prefer not to wear shoes whenever possible. Halflings are sturdy and industrious, generally quiet and peaceful.

Half-Elves
Half-Elves are the most common mixed race beings. The relationship difference between elf, human, and half-elves is quite extreme. Elven folk care nothing about their corrupted half-bred relatives, however human's think of half-elves as normal beings. Being much like their elven parents in looks, they tend to follow the same beliefs which their elven ancestors believed in.
